ODiN: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Below are the most frequently asked questions regarding the ODiN system. Hopefully they will help you with your problem. If not, please feel free to contact us for assistance.

General FAQs:

Q: Where/how do I search for a SSI Dealer?
A: To get to the search page, you can click here, or:
1. Choose the "Dive Center" tab on the top menu. 
2. Click "Dive Center Search" on the left-hand menu uner "Dive Center."
3. If you know the EXACT NAME of the Facility, type it into the "SSI Facility Search
Free Search:" field.
-OR-
4. Use the dropdown choices under the "SSI Facility Search
Free Search:" field.
- Choose the Country.
- Enter a State -OR- the Zip Code (5 Digit in USA, next to Area or Zip/Area for European Countires). Leave this blank if you do not know.
5. Narrow your search by Facility Type and/or Course (OPTIONAL).
6. Click "Start Search"

Facility Search Notes:
1. The "SSI Facility Search Free Search:" is very specific, if you do not find what you’re looking for try again using the general search options.
2. This search function searches every SSI dealer in the World. Facility names are similar accross the globe; therefore, the more narrow you can make the search the better your results will be.
3. We do our best to make sure the information and maps are correct. However, if you do see an error please notify us and we will correct it as soon as possible.

Q: What is ODiN?
A: ODiN means "Online Diver’s Network." It is SSI’s fully integrated diver’s information delivery network.

Q: How do I get a transcript for College Credit?
A: Our relationship with the American Council on Education ended June 4, 2007.  As such, we can no longer issue official transcripts for credit.

Dealer FAQs:

Q: How do I print a Temporary Card for my student?
A: To print a Temporary Card complete the following:
1. After successfully logging into your Facility Account, click "My C-Cards"
2. The ODiN system will automatically show you the last 5 c-cards you issued. You can also choose to have the system show all of your c-cards or you can search for a specific name.
3. Once you locate the Diver Certification Card, Click the "Temp Card" button under Status.
4. You will see a copy of the temporary card on your monitor and be prompted to "Print" the temporary card.

Q: How do I order a Replacement Card?
A:  At this time, please email or mail the Student Registration Form and a picture of the diver  (if necessary) to SSI.  You can obtain a PDF of the Student Registration Form in the dealer downloads area. You will not be charged the additional $2.00 processing fee for replacement cards.

Notes:

• There will be a mechanism in place for you to order replacement cards for your divers already in ODiN in the coming weeks.
• You will be able to order replacement cards through ODiN for pre-ODiN data after all of the valid data has been loaded to the system. We anticipate having all of the pre-ODiN data by late 2008.

Q: Why am I not finding my previous, pre-ODiN students in ODiN?
A: The ODiN system  began with a "clean slate" of data. Currently, you will only see c-cards that have been input into the system since you began using ODiN. Our goal is to load all your previous valid data into ODiN by late 2008.

 Q: What is "valid pre-ODiN data?"
A: "Valid" data is the information from our previous certification database that has a full and complete set of information. A complete record would include the Diver’s full name, date of birth, Instructor name, Facility, and certification levels. Many records are not complete, and may not be loaded into ODiN. As such, the chance exists that some c-cards may still need to be verfied manually. 

Q: How do I process a Certification Card without a picture?
A: All certification cards input into ODiN require a picture.

Q: What is my ODiN Facility Number?
A: Your ODiN Facility Number is the same Facility Number* that you had pre-ODiN plus 800000. For example, if your original number was 215, your new number would be 215+800000=800215.

*There are a few numbers that have been reassigned. Please contact SSI Dealer Services if you are having difficulty.

Q: How do I get a Password?
A: To retrieve your password complete the following:
1. Choose login from the left-hand menu bar. 
2. In the ---select--- dropdown, select "Facility"
3. A new option, "Request Password" will appear below the login fields.
4. Enter your facility ID (facility number + 800000, see example above).
5. Your password will be e-mailed to the e-mail address we have on file for you. If you do not know if we have the correct e-mail or if you do not have your ID number, pleae call SSI Dealer Services.

Q: How do I change my password?
A: After successfully logging into your Facility Account, click the button "myFaciltiy" on the left hand menu. At the bottom of the myFacility page, you will see a "Change Password" area. There are two fields there. Type in the password you would like to change to in the first field and type it again in the second field  exactly the same way to confirm it.  When you’re finished, click "Save."

Q: How do I add an event?
A: After successfully logging into your Facility Account, click the button "myEvents" on the left hand menu.
1. Event Date: Enter the date range for your event in the "Event Date Start" and "End" fields (both are required).
2. Event Category: Choose a category from the dropdown list. If your category is not listed, choose "miscellaneous."
3. Target Audience: Choose your target audience. If you choose "All" it will be available to everyone that visits ODiN.
4. Select Course: Select the "Course" from the dropdown menu. If you do not want to enter a course title, leave this box alone and enter your title in the "Short Info" field.
5. Short Info: Enter a brief tagline or sub-header to the title.
6. Optional: Event Details, plain Text only. This is optional: Enter any additional details that you want to pass on to the reader.
7. Click "Save!" to save your event.  Double-check your form. If everything is correct, press "Save!" You can login into your Facility anytime to update or delete an event once you have saved it.

Q: How do I post a job?
A: After successfully logging into your Facility Account, click the button "myJobs" on the left hand menu. All of the job announcements will appear. Scroll to the bottom of the list  and you will find a form to fill out to post a new job.
1. Job Title: Enter the job title of the position. For example "Scuba Instructor and Retail Sales"
2. Job Description: Enter a detailed description of the what the position is about.
3. Country: Select the country the job will be in from the dropdown list.
4. Region: Enter a region of the country or state, if you choose.
5. Min. Qualification: Choose the minimum qualifications from the dropdown list.
6. Languages: Choose the languages you require the candidate to speak. If multiple languages hold down the CTRL key (PC) or the apple key (MAC) while choosing the languages from the list.
7. Contact Person:  Enter the name of the person at the facility to contact about this position.
8. Contact WWW: Enter a website for the facility or position if applicable.
9. Contact E-Mail: Enter the email address of the individual to send resumes and/or questions.
10. Contact Phone: Enter the phone number of the facility or contact.
11. Click "Save!": Double check your form. If everything is correct, press "Save!" You can login into your Facility anytime to update or delete a job once you have saved it.


Q: How do I get my c-card statistics?
A: After successfully logging into your Facility Account, click the button "myC-CardStats" on the left hand menu.
 
Users can choose to see stats by day, date range, card type, course level or any combination of these.
 
Example: A dealer entered 12 c-cards yesterday and wants to recall them. All he/she needs to do is enter yesterday’s date in both the "start" and "end" fields and click "Go". This will bring up the number of cards in each category that they entered yesterday.
 
If you want to see all the c-cards entered in December of this year:
1. Click on the calendar to the right of the "start" field, choose Dec.1,2007.
2. Click on the calendar to the right of the "end" field, choose Dec.31, 2007.
3. Click "Go".
 
Two important notes:
1. This will only bring up c-cards entered into the system.
2. This function only reports the type and number of cards, not the recipients names.
 
SSI Dive Leader FAQs:

Q: I’m a Dive Leader & want to know when I will see the rest of my student certifications in ODiN?
A: Valid pre-ODiN Certification data will be added to the ODiN system as soon as possible. We anticipate that all "old" data that is valid (has all required certification information, name, birth date, etc.) will be loaded by the fall of ’08.


Q: How do I get my password?

A: To retrieve your password complete the following:
1. Choose login from the left-hand menu bar. 
2. In the ---select--- dropdown, select "Dive Leader"
3. A new option, "Request Password" will appear below the login fields.
4. Enter your Global Dive Leader Number.
5. Your password will be e-mailed to the e-mail address we have on file for you. If you do not know if we have the correct e-mail or if you do not have your Global Dive Leader  Number, please call SSI Instructor Services.


Q: What do I do if all of my specialties are not listed in my personal information?

"myDownloads" FAQs:

Q: Why can’t I find the Form or Training Aid I am looking for in "myDownloads?"
A: Everything in the "myDownloads" area is specific to the login type. If you login as a dealer, you will only see Dealer related documents. You will not see training documents as these are directly related to the instructor.

Q; How is the "myDownloads" area organized?
A: All of the material in the "myDownloads" area is organized in an intuitive manner. For example,  a  "Dealer Renewal Form" is for "Business Support." To find this form, you would:
1. Login as a DEALER.
2. Choose "myDownloads" on the left-hand menu.
3. Choose " SSI Facility Download Area"
4. Choose "Business Support"
5. Choose "Business Support Forms"
6. Click "SSI Headquarters, USA"
7. Choose " Delaer_Renewal"
