Unitarian Principles Confirmed by Trinitarian Testimonies: Being Selections ... By John Wilson
See pg 260 on re a discussion of the "original Apostolic Creed and how it change over the years from a clearly "Unitarian" creed to the more complicated versions...Nicene, Constantinople etc.
Q: Where did all of these learned theologians in the Unitarian school come from (Harvard? Other?) and why did the theological discourses disappear....the advent of humanism? What a loss...the existing "Unitarian" theological schools are facing financial hard times per my research....discussion was made of uniting Starr King and Meadville into one school but it went nowhere. The comment was made that 60% of UUA ministers are coming out of other theology schools. The question may be why....is it because they seek a more traditional theological education? IF schools like Starr King and Meadville-Lombard actually had focused their educational curriculum in classical Unitarianism...rather than social justice etc. maybe they would be able bring in more theological students. The would actually had a theology to preach...rather than a feel good but hollow shell of a religion we see now. Just my rant.....where have all the intelligent Unitarian theologians gone? The arguments have not lost their veracity....now is the time more than ever for Unitarianism...but I do not see the institutions that could spark a revival in learning. So, we exist as an internet resource....all we can do is keep and complile this history...have it at hand should it be needed.
Happy New Year

Words fail me when I try to address the lack of meaningful theology in UU churches and seminaries. I've spoken with so many people here in the midwest who have attended or joined a UU church, eventually discovering that it was nothing much more than a humanist social club, stating that there was something missing at the core, or that attendees seemed to be hollow at the center.
I've occasionally looked at a catalogue of one of the UU seminaries, and have realized that if I was young again, I'd take up religious studies elsewhere.
I'd like to see posts from some others on this.
