Of late I have discovered two books that I have added to my library as permanent additions to be read more than once.

1. Common Sense Christianity by C. Randolph Ross - makes sense of the teachings of Jesus as a "functional christ" takes away all of the smoke, mirrors and magic tricks from traditional christianity.

2. A Mile In My Shoes, How to Cultivate Compassion by Trevor Hudson - teaches how to develop and practice compassion through interaction with those around us who suffer.

Both very good books and readily available used from Barnes & Noble as well as Amazon.com. Along with Thomas Paine's Age of Reason I have read these both 2-3 times in the last year and recommend them all.
Thanks for the recommendations...always good to learn of new books...I am not familiar with either.

P.S. In re to your other note...I am one "conservative...politically" but "liberal" religiously!

Sorry, I should have been more clear - I was only referring to religious stances, I personally leave politics completely separate from religion and as such did not even consider that anyone might think that I meant "politically conservative".

I read Randy Ross's book. (He contributed to our journal a while back). Great stuff!
