Actualy the Bible does not teach the earth is flat but the opposite. The Bible said the earth was round thousands of years before science excepted it.

Isa 40:22 He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in.

The Bible also speaks of the earth being round in Ecc. and also talks about jet streams and the hydrologic cycle centuries before science knew of such things.

Ecc 1:6 The wind blows to the south

and turns to the north;

round and round it goes,

ever returning on its course.

Ecc 1:7 All streams flow into the sea,

yet the sea is never full.

To the place the streams come from,

there they return again.

The circle could be flat....like a plate....the tent analogy suggest a cover over a flat space.

I agree with Eruonen; round and spherical are not the same thing. Regardless, we have no real way to know if the Bible's authors thought of the Earth as flat or spherical. In any case, the Bible is not a science text-the passages you quote are addressing issues beyond the shape of our planet

I have to agree - when "satan" lead Jesus to the top of a mountain (Luke 4.5) and shewed him all the kindgoms of the world (at once) it is obvious to me that the bible authors perceived the earth as flat and very small...
