Let us call upon the One with all our love.
Love will bring Him near.
Love will open our eyes and our ears.
Love will bring together the heart and the mind.

Let us be true heroes by serving all with love.
Let us be open to receive the Spirit of the One.
The One responds to love in-kind.
We will be as children and receive gifts with which to serve.

Sometimes, it will be necessary to fight.
We must be prepared to stand up for what we believe.
We must be prepared to prevent others from harming our fellow man.
We must be prepared to be directed with love.

The One will give comfort to all His worthy children.
The truly religious men and women will be motivated only by love.
The Spirit of the One will be with those who seek only the good for their fellow man.
Let us be worthy of His aid as we seek to serve and protect our fellow man.

Men often think of combat as fought with weapons of war.
Many will risk their lives to protect others in need.
Often overlooked is the battle for mankind's heart and mind.
Words and songs are great weapons in the struggle for the heart and mind.

Few have the ability to compete in a war of words.
Great foes must be faced to save the minds of men and women.
Some may have to give the life of their body to save their fellow man.
Seek out those who will stand up for what is true and right.

The One is a strong God and watches over man.
He helps those who strive to do good for man.
Folks in need, who strive with all their ability, are aided by the One they do not see.
The One will give you the proper thoughts to confront all the battles experienced in life.

Great warriors will encounter each other in a war.
Brut strength and superior weapons will often win the day.
Lost in the clashes are the hearts and minds of man.
The warriors do not stop or consider the greater might of the tongue.

The tongue is the mightiest weapon given over to man.
The tongue is like a two edged sword for it can heal or destroy.
The tongue can unite or divide the hearts and minds of man.
Few warriors are skilled in the use of the mightiest weapon given to man.

Many claim the One and all His might as they journey off to war.
Many feel they will succeed in conquering every foe.
Few succeed and do fall short for they have not considered the power of the tongue.
The One assists those who seek to serve and bring peace with the loving use of the tongue.

The Spirit gives strength to even the thoughts of those who serve others with love.
The Spirit will abandon all who know nothing but hate.
The joy of the Spirit will be with all who worship the One.

The One will give comfort to all who strive to be good.
The One will give knowledge and wisdom to those who seek with all their hearts to be worthy guides.
The Spirit will be with all who are worthy to be considered Children of the One.
Be devoted to the One and work for only the good, then the One will not abandon you.

Receive the fullness of the Spirit by proving yourself a friend.
Prepare to go forth each day by asking for the Spirit to guide you each step of the way.
Call to the One each hour of the day.
Love your fellow man and the One will be with you all the way.

Sing hymns with love.
Speak your words with love.
Think your thoughts with love.
You will discover the great might given to Children of the One.

Do not be impetuous and seek for mortal battle.
Do not seek out conflict for which you are not prepared.
Do seek to serve and guide those who are in need.
Do seek to walk in the Sacred Way.

Seek to honor your mother and father.
Seek to bring harmony to the earth.
Seek the full power of the Spirit to enlighten you each day.
Seek to have the Spirit of the One in your dwelling each day.

A great price must be paid to receive the Spirit of the One.
A great price must be paid to learn the proper use of the mightiest weapon given to man.
Do not try to be simple or clever with the One.
The price to be paid is an undivided heart and mind.

Do not try to fool the One with an empty promise.
You must truly love and serve your fellow man.
Do not try to fool the One with halfhearted effort.
You must lovingly serve with body, mind, heart, and soul.

Claim the full power available to a Child of the One.
Walk your talk as you serve all with love.
Claim the One as your Father and Friend.
Demonstrate your love and speak with truth to your fellow man.

The One will guide you each step of the Way.
Lovingly share your experience and learning with all.
Let the Spirit flow through you like a mighty river.
Use well each gift with the full power of love.

With love,

Hi Rev Dorris

To be honest, I have little taste for poetry and seldom take the time to read and consider it. When I do make the effort to read yours, I find it a rewarding experience. I suppose there's a lesson there somewhere.

Thanks for this most recent.

Fred
Hi Fred,

Thanks for the remarks. If you called me a poet a few years ago, I would have thought you were joking. I did not like to even read poetry. Now I find great inspiration in poetry and songs.

I did not start out thinking of writing poetry, but to write in a style that would be easy to translate from English to Spanish. I would speak a few lines in English and then a translator would speak the same thing in Spanish. A few individuals would ask for copies of the writings to translate them into their own primary languages. When I would put the writings in a normal paragraph style they said it was too difficult to read and translate. They wanted this style or the style I used when speaking from a script.

People looked at my speaking scripts and notes. They began to call them prose and poetry. Other people said they would sit and read one or two pages of this style several times a day, but would not read other religious material because they did not have the time or interest to read chapters at a time. Very reluctantly the poet in me was born.

I am happy that you find the writings rewarding when you make the effort to read them. Maybe we should just call them creative expressions and not poetry. This might make the messages in them a little easier to accept.

With love,

Rev Dorris
