A Message for all seasons.
Amy sent this message out as an Easter Message to her friends. I asked permission to forward it on and to post it on the AUC forum. I dropped the ball in following through at that time. Recently she asked where I had posted it so she could see it. I found the message in my things to do file. Sorry for this delay, but this is truly a message for all seasons. It is a message of life and discovery. I hope you will enjoy the message as much as I have.
With love,
Rev Dorris

Easter Sunday 2008
Dearest Family and Friends,
On this day, many celebrate the joy of Christ’s resurrection from the dead, others celebrate the beginning of spring, a time of the resurrection of all growing things. I am so grateful this year for the gift of life and renewal. I have found such joy over the last year, a joy that I never thought possible before. I have come to find the words of the Apostle Paul have personal meaning for me at this stage in my life. “…The righteousness that is by faith says: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ (that is, to bring Christ down) “or; Who will descend into the deep?’ (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).” But what does it say? “The work is near you ; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is , the word of faith we are proclaiming…For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved”…”. Romans Chapter 10. For so long I thought the way to find God was to look to outside of myself for that connection, the loving relationship that I so desired. I have come to understand that God is within each and everyone of us, as the DNA from our human parents is part of us, so is the spark of the Divine placed within us by our Creator.
As I have searched for a way to find the link to God in my life, I looked everywhere but within. I investigated religion after religion to find that needed familiarity with the Creator, I tried to find it in books, doctrine, and various practices. I had nearly given up, thinking that perhaps it was not for me to find the love and connection with the Divine. In my most desperate hours I began to utter a simple prayer, “If you are there, and if you love me, I need to find you once and for all”. My prayers were answered; I began to search for the real Amy, the person that I am at my core. As I discovered who I am, the realization that God was a part of me and I a part of God, became more and more clear. Once I was able to release all of the things that others told me about God and all the things that I had learned about God, I discovered God myself.
Today I know that God is love, kindness, compassion, understanding, and my greatest Advocate. There is no hatred, retribution or judgment in our Creator, God is Divine and to attribute base human emotions to God is the failing of man. If I as a fragile and imperfect human, love my children and wish only the best for them, even when I see them doing things that can damage themselves and things that hurt me; how much more is God able to love us and desire our good even when we make bad choices and do damage to ourselves. For me, salvation is the re-birth of our spirit, not through the death of Christ, but through the awakening of our individual spirit. When we look deep within, we are blessed to see that in spite of our failings, mistakes and imperfections that we are children of the Divine, and the Divine is within us. It is then that we are saved from the fear and shame of our human existence. I have discovered how to receive the love and communication from my Heavenly Parent and to see my own worth. Once this happens for any person, they can enter into the joy of life, the joy of the Spirit of God, and the freedom to know that we are a reflection of God in the “inner man or woman”. With this newfound freedom we learn that we are wonderful and loving people, able to overcome our weaknesses and shortcomings with the help of God. As we reach out to the person of God in prayer, our inner spark of Divinity is able to receive the love as never before, the conduit is open and energy and communication flow freely. When this takes place true change can then happen, the ability to make those changes that have eluded us before is within our grasp.
On this day of joy and renewal it is my prayer that everyone will find the love of God within themselves. I pray that all those that I love and cherish can share in this wonderful path of love and life. I have a deeper love and understanding for myself and for all of humanity, regardless of what is on the outside. I know that God is present within each and every human being on this planet regardless of the behavior or façade that is presented at face value. Accept my love for you and my blessings of peace to your spirit this day.
With the love of God,
Amy Parnell
