I won't call him "Father" as he does not deserve the respect...the Catholic church needs to clean house of these radical Marxist, race baiting priests who bring politics into the church.

He has long been a radical priest in the Chicago area....and should have been sacked years ago.

"Chicago Sun-Times religion reporter Mike Thomas asked Cardinal Francis George's office for a reaction, and his spokeswoman, Colleen Dolan said, ''The cardinal has made it clear to Father Pfleger in the past on more than one occasion that it's inappropriate to speak about political issues from the pulpit and that his own personal opinions are his own personal opinions.''

""The Catholic Church does not endorse political candidates," George said. "Consequently, while a priest must speak to political issues that are also moral, he may not endorse candidates nor engage in partisan campaigning.

"Racial issues are both political and moral and are also highly charged," he said.

"Words can be differently interpreted, but Father Pfleger's remarks about Senator Clinton are both partisan and amount to a personal attack. I regret that deeply.

"To avoid months of turmoil in the church, Fr. Pfleger has promised me that he will not enter into campaigning, will not publicly mention any candidate by name and will abide by the discipline common to all Catholic priests."

Obama....with "friend's" like these who needs enemies?  He needs to be clear in his denunciation...but is too mealy mouthed..IMHO.

Hard to believe that Pfleger hasn't been sacked. That Catholic ship must not be as tight as is widely perceived.

Puts Obie in quite a bind doesn't it? Are Pflegler and Wright so self-absorbed that they cannot see that they are doing more harm than good to the Obama candidacy? To answer my own question: it doesn't matter to them what effect they have on Obie's chances. They have their own agendas and motivations. Spouting off from the pulpit serves their personal agendas. Whether it helps or hurts Obie is secondary to them.
That is my take....they would rather make sure their agendas are given the exposure and if Obama won't play....tough for him. When you seek the support of loons...they will end up biting you in the end.

Obama resigns from Trinity UCC.....finally.
I think part of the reason why Pfleger hasn't been sacked is that he has done some "good" in a community that is not (unless its changed since I last was there) in very good shape. I'm just speculating that this is why Cardinal George hasn't put the hammer down on him; plus, as we know with other problems in the RCC, there isn't a particularly strong history of cracking down quickly. In any case, as I blogged the other day, I agree that he and Wright are more about themselves than anything or anybody else.
