“Every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like the master of a household who brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old” (Matthew 13:52).

“A significant religious movement must thus cherish the good that the past has had, and at the same time welcome the infusion of new methods and measures. It must blend the new and the old in just proportion, and join to the steadfastness of good habit the joy of fresh experiment. It must unite the maturity of age with the elasticity of youth. It must at once conserve and create” (Samuel A. Eliot, Introduction to Heralds of a Liberal Faith).
