I was out of touch for 10 days or so when we left for a family road trip vacation to the Black Hills / Bad Lands area....just a quick note since I am busy getting caught up:
The landscape of the Badlands...like any area that shows geologic strata....really reminds us how old the earth is and how our flash of light time on earth is truly dust in the wind....(quite poetic don't you think...thank you Kansas!)....and at the same time I feel quite connected as well.
Will have more later..

I will be off line for about a week. The hard drives on my computer crashed. According to the repair company, all the data on the hard drive is lost. I guess it will be kind of a forced vacaton. Hopefully We will be able to reconstruct most of the lost information.
Typing with two thumbs on a cell phone makes one appreciate having a full size key board.

Just a note for those who are interested.
I will be in New York from September 12 till the 19th. If anyone who lives in that area would like to meet with me, contact me through e-mail or private message. Give me a contact number so that we can arrange a meeting.

Just returned to Homestead from New York. Had a good time meeting with old friends and meeting some new ones. We covered a large area. We went to Spring Valley, Nyack, Manhattan, China Town, etc. Got to see Yankee stadium, the Met museum, and West Point. We also went to New Hope, Penn. and Mystic, Conn. A few more people have now heard about the AUC.
I did find a 2 volume set of the Basic Writings of Saint Thomas Aquinas, published in 1945 by the Random House Lifetime Library. It seems to present the many contrasting views presented in the 13th century to numerous questions along with his answers or opinions as to what was the correct view. It appears to be quite interesting but will be difficult to read.

I have always wanted to see upstate NY....hopefully a future trip.
Aquinas will give you plenty to think about over the winter...well, you live in Fl so that is irrelevant! Anyway, when reading old works you are often struck with the fact that all of the Q's we have today were asked and debated over in the past...and most often are still up for debate today despite well reasoned argumentation. But, since most of us do not have philosophical / theological training it is easy to be ignorant of all that came before. We are always reinventing the wheel and not considering prior "partial" or "best" solutions to the problems.
I have always wanted to see upstate NY....hopefully a future trip.
I live in upstate NY...for all the faults of this region we have 4 seasons, no hurricanes, no tornadoes and no earthquakes (plus its beautiful in the Finger Lakes region and Adirondacks). I'd highly recommend it
Nice...I am sure the fall is gorgeous there. I feel the same re location in my midwest location....I don't mind the seasons...actually I enjoy them...ok, except for parts of Jan/Feb and March...and the occasional humidity in summer...oh, and the persistent mosquitoes....but I wouldn't trade the 2 weeks of spring and 2 weeks of fall for anything!
Other than the occasional tornado risk....no natural hazard worries.
